Scenes From A Borders Liquidation Sale

We went by our local Borders this weekend. It's one of the ones closing and I was thinking, "Maybe they'll have some things on sale. I'm sure it's no busier than ever so we'll just make a quick stop."

Boy was I wrong.

We got to the parking lot for the strip mall and it was overflowing. I still persisted in thinking that people were there for some other reason, like a special event at one of the restaurants. I even mentioned to Terry that there was no way these people were there for Borders.

I parked and let Terry go in to check things out since Gillian was asleep. While waiting I sat there looking at the signs and thinking, "20%? That still doesn't make it as cheap as getting things from Amazon. This sounds like a waste of time."

It wasn't long before Terry came back out. She confirmed that EVERYONE at the strip mall was inside that Borders, and they were all going nuts. The line for checking out stretched to the back of the store. People had armloads of books.

At 20% off list price.

Terry took one quick pass and determined that there was absolutely no point, came out, and we went home.
